As far as I am aware there is only one candidate from the Borough, and that is Bob Brierley. I must be honest I do like the passion that this man shows and would hope that he gets elected. I think that for the first time I am going to vote 3 different ways at this election and I think that, that is how a lot of people feel. There is possibly not going to be one dominant party, and even though some people don't like Gordon Brown, (I must be honest I do) I do hope that the Conservatives don't gain power.

Ken Haslam lives just up the road Debbie, and a proper "Pie Eater". As for Bob "oh! where does my garden end" Brierley..he is actually a nice chap, unfortunately as an independent he will only be looking after his own interests and concerns.

My name is John Mather and I am one of you Independent candidates. Firstly I am local. Secondly as an Independent I will be looking out for Makerfield's interest and concerns NOT what a party wants me to do regardless of what it will do to the people that vote for me.

I am sorry John, I didn't realise that there were 2 independents? I am now confused!!

I believe in your leaflet you say that the Labour Party is taking the people of Makerfield for granted. Perhaps the following would be of interest to you.

Apart from two leaflets we are sending to every constituent in Makerfield from Yvonne and two from myself to the residents of Ashton we have had the following contact with local residents during the past three weeks of the campaign.

1. We have visited every ward in the constituency and spoken to roughly 1500 residents on the doorstep. We have probably knocked on three times that many doors where people are out

2. We have held street stalls in the middle of Ashton and Winstanley where people were encouragred to talk to us

3. We have met parents outside schools in Bryn and Ashton

4. Yvonne has attended residents meetings and events in Ashton, Orrell and Hindley

Taking the people for granted - I don't think so.

Looking forward to the hustings on Sunday.

John Mather again...

I don't believe the local Labour party takes us for granted, I respect anyone that is willing to put themselves forward as a candidate. It is the national Labour Party I have a problem with and how the main parties in general treat safe seats. I did not mean to insult your work or that of Mrs Fovargue. In fact I am sure Mrs Fovargue will make a good New Labour MP I am just not sure she will make a good Makerfield MP.

I am surprised that you have not had Yvonne Fouvargue's, our Parliamentary candidate, first leaflet through the post as this was addressed to all households in the Constituency.

Please let me know where you live and I will make sure you receive our election materials.

Tired old labour at national and local level, I've heard the same old drivel for over 10 years, tae a step back and look at the take of the country, time to go.
