Following the presentation by BDP, the firm who have been looking at the regeneration of Ashton town centre, a presentation was given to the Ashton Bryn township forum at their last meeting where they outlined possible options for the regeneration of the town centre.
Now on June 19th representatives of BDP will be in the Gerard Centre with plans and pictures of how they see the way forward for Ashton Town Centre and they will want your opinions of their plans to improve the centre.
If you can't make it on June 19th then the exhibition will move to the library for two weeks.

Nigel I was just going to ask where I could view this document. Is that 2 weeks from June 19th?
Thanks
As I said you can see it in Ashton library - I think it is for two weeks from the 20th June or it may be from the 22nd June
Nigel, can I ask why the company is presenting the plan on a Friday when most of us are at work? I would have thought that you would have wanted to get as much feed back as possible, how many people will know that it is in the library? I do hope that they dont stand by the notice board on the Gerard Centre like last time as no one could get near?
Lastly, I would hope that all our councillors are on hand both in Ashton on the 19th and at the library for any questions that people may have?
As I understand it there will be a bus on the Gerard Centre tomorrow.
As for alternative accessibility to the plans the library is open after normal working hours and on Sundays.
As a part of the Ashton Forward campaign Ian and myself campaigned in the middle of Ashton to ask people to sign a petition backing our ideas. Everybody who signed that petition has been written to personally and informed of the exhibiton and when it can be viewed.
I also have asked the Council to circulate the presentation we had at the Township Forum to all local groups for them to discuss it.
Finally there was an article in the local paper this week advertising the fact.
I will be on the Gerard Centre tomorrow am. However, the main aim of the consultation is for local people to say what they think about the plans
After viewing the plan on-line I think that the suggestions are generally good and I can totally see where the idea of linking one side of the town to the other comes from. I also like the fact that they have utilised the market area pretty well. What I was dismayed at was the lack of 'vision' given to the number one problem...traffic!! This was an issue that residents brought up as a major turn off in using the town centre. They also pointed out that unless the traffic situation was resolved the whole thing basically becomes unhinged. So Nigel could you please give me some insight as to what the proposals are for the solution to this problem? I also noted that at no time did the report mention the HGV's !! Could someone please explain this...could it have something to do with bringing to the publics attention that to create even more industrial parks WITHOUT a new road infrastructure might just be tempting fate?
